the other poses a threat (2025) comprises two seamless acrylic blocks, resembling stage blocks that suggest the positions of actors on a stage. The phrase “Scream, then listen, scream again, then listen again, no, spared that, all silent as the grave” inscribed on the wall is drawn from Beckett’s monologue "Not I", in which the protagonist revisits moments of trauma without ever acknowledging them as her own.
In this work, the blocks evoke an internal struggle between the conscious and the unconscious, the silence between them and the tension amplified by the room’s soundtrack. A third, invisible element permeates the space: the tension of something about to unfold, the latent threat posed by the other. An ’80s synth-driven film score, reminiscent of John Carpenter, fills the room, heightening the sense of suspense and unease.
